Linda
Wolohan has more than 20 years of experience as a public relations and
marketing-communications practitioner, as an editor, and as a reporter.
She became a partner at The Writers Studio in September 1995, specializing in
corporate and nonprofit marketing communications.
Linda’s services
include designing and implementing strategic communications, as well as
providing copywriting, editing, and project management for internal and external
communications. Her for-profit clients represent a broad range of industries,
including financial services (banking, asset management, financial planning, and
insurance), utilities, jewelry and home-accessories manufacturing, and
consulting. Her nonprofit clients
are focused on community services, child welfare, and education.
Prior to consulting,
Linda served as Vice President and Public
Relations Manager for PNC Asset Management Group, for which she launched a communications program. She
coordinated investment communications for this investment-management line of
business of PNC Bank. (PNC Asset
Management Group has since been spun off into BlackRock Inc.)
Her responsibilities included creating and managing media-relations
strategy, writing and developing senior-management communications, and working
with the bank’s other lines of business to write and produce
investment-management client communications.
Before being named to
that post, Linda served as Manager of
Corporate Communications for PNC Bank’s Philadelphia market.
She was responsible for media relations, employee communications,
senior-management communications, community-relations communications, and client
publications. She also managed
PNC’s name-change project in the Philadelphia market.
Before joining PNC Bank,
Linda was a Copy Editor and Features
Writer for the Philadelphia Business
Journal. She had also served as
Editor of Health Sciences at
Northwestern University, with media relations responsibility for the university’s highly renowned medical and dental schools.
Earlier, Linda was employed as a Copy
Editor for the Midwest Division of the international news wire service
United Press International. She was
later promoted to General Assignment
Reporter and General Desk Editor, directing and editing stories of
nationwide importance from the Midwest. She
started her career as a technical writer for
Montgomery Ward and Co., developing employee-training manuals.
Linda holds a Bachelor of
Arts in journalism from Michigan State University. She studied international business at the Institute for
American Universities in Aix-en-Provence, France.
Linda is a member of the
Philadelphia Public Relations Association. She is also a member of the Board of
Directors of Youth Services Inc., a child abuse and neglect-prevention nonprofit
agency in Philadelphia, and Board Co-Chair of the agency’s yearlong 50th
anniversary celebration.
